Cliff Dwellings & Ruins

The canyon has literally thousands of cliff dwellings that both dot the canyon walls and are found along the canyon floor. The most famous is White House Ruins, which is the only cliff dwelling you can visit without an authorized Diné (Navajo) guide.

On your trip with us you may see the ruins in Box Canyon, Mummy Cave, as well as many, many more.

A custom trip can also be designed to focus on the cliff dwellings. In addition to the cliff dwellings, you will also see hogans and granaries used in historical times, side-by-side with today's structures.

Granaries
Traditional Navajo granaries are found throughout the canyon and are present in base camp. These were used by Lupita's family for many generations.
